Here’s a list of my favorite Wordpress plugins … a couple of these are worth mentioning, but I no longer use them. I noted the ones I’m not using and why. If you have any to add, just comment.

Adsense-Deluxe 0.8
Place Google AdSense ads in your WordPress Posts. Requires WordPress 1.5 or higer by Acme Technologies. I love this plugin. I don’t use Adsense on this blog, but you can use this plugin for easy insertion of other scripts and codes into your posts. Instead of placing the Adsense code in the configuration blocks, place your other code (I have several Chitika Mini Mall scripts configured in mine) there and adding the script to a post is as simple as adding <!–adsense#ShopCloud–> or <!–adsense–> to your posts where you want the script to be placed. You can configure as many of these scripts as you want or need and change them in all of your posts at the same time just by editing the script in the plugin screen. Read the rest of this entry »
After Blogrush hit the blogosphere, in comes Entrecard. Both are designed to bring traffic to your blogs. I’ve already removed Blogrush from my sidebar. I got tired of seeing links to all the “big” blogs and never getting more than 1 or two hits to mine from Blogrush. Now tell me, why should I give free advertising to the blogs that are already making a killing off of blogging. If they want to be featured here, they can buy an ad or review.
Entrecard is probably going to go also. With Entrecard, I am getting plenty of traffic, directly from Entrecard, but the traffic is about 70% junk traffic. You see, the only way to wrack up points to buy ads in Entrecard is to drop your Entrecard on other people’s blogs. Every time you do, you get a point and every time they do, I get a hit ….. but what kind of hit is it?
It’s pretty much like a drive-by ambush … a hit and run. They are dropping their Entrecards here as part of a massive campaign to get points and not staying to check out my blog. Therefore, it is completely useless traffic … except that it’s not. The main reason I joined Entrecard is to have the opportunity to get points to be able to buy advertising spots on popular blogs and it has accomplished that. I have sunk some time in it … dropping off Entrecards is a real time-sucking endeavor and not something that I can do for the long term in any significant manner.
Another puzzling thing is the people who have a high rate of rejecting ad offers. I already applied for three ad spots on two great blogs and got rejected. Why? I don’t know. My blog seems respectable enough. Not only that, but some blogs actually approve your advertising only to turn around and then reject it after you are in the que. Sorry, but that seems like a real asshole thing to do. You should take the time to check out a blog before you approve it and once you do approve it, you should honor that commitment.
So, at this point, I am still evaluating the pros and cons of Entrecard and if the time it takes to get enough points to purchase ads pays off big enough to be worth it. As for the traffic … 70% are card droppers who aren’t taking the time to read content but I do get points for it, so what the heck.
The rumors have started to fly so I wanted to take a moment to clarify a few things about CBSqueeze Videos. I just joined and have already got my first video squeeze page up and running. Videos are the most powerful and effective means of producing massive click through rates and sales, but most people don’t have the time, the resources, or the inclination to produce their own videos. He offers to create custom videos for any program you are promoting for about $1,000 but the beauty of this membership program is you get 10 Hot Clickbank product videos per month for only $45 membership fee. You can’t find videos of this quality anywhere for $45 and that’s for just one … but you get 10! Read the rest of this entry »
Facebook just announced the launch of Facebook Ads yesterday at Ad:Tech in New York. There are three elements to Facebook Ads,
Facebook Beacon
Enable your customers to share the actions they take on your website with their Facebook friends.
Add 3 lines of code and reach millions of users.
Simply determine which user actions you would like publish to Facebook and add a few lines of code to your web page. Facebook Beacon actions include purchasing a product, signing up for a service, adding an item to a wish list, and more. When a user performs the action, they will be alerted that your website is sending a story to their profile and have a chance to opt out. No additional user action is needed for the story to be published on Facebook, and users remain in control of their information. Read the rest of this entry »
